Young Kiwis Fret Over Landing Digital Jobs

Nearly half of New Zealanders ages 18-24 fret about finding work in today's digitally-focused job market despite being considered tech-savvy. So reports Stuff, citing a new survey.

The survey conducted by Vodafone on behalf of Career Development Association of New Zealand, notes that 44% of Kiwis in that age group worry they don't have the digital skills necessary to get hired. And 31% believe machines will take over most jobs in the next 50 years.

Jennie Miller, president of Career Development Association of New Zealand, says it will only be 10 to 15 years before machines replace many humans. But she maintains that there is no need to worry. "We know that any job that can be changed into being dealt with by technology will be...[but] for all these jobs that are destroyed, new ones will be created," Miller says.
