Construction managers and DevOps professionals round out the four jobs that 49% of employers have prioritize for permanent staff hires, recruiting expert Hays notes. Of the more than 900 New Zealand employers with over 259,000 staff who were polled as part of the yearly Hays Salary Guide, 53% rated technical skills as most important for effectively overseeing a department. Trade-specific, staff management, business development and digital followed with 47%, 30%, 26% and 25%, respectively.
“Labour supply has been an ongoing issue across New Zealand for some time, so with employers telling us they want to continue adding to their headcount in the next few months, highly-skilled professionals will be in high demand and can access strong career-advancing opportunities,” notes Adam Shapley, managing director of Hays in New Zealand.
