Empowering Employees to Drive Employee Engagement

Employers who are trying to get more employees engaged would be smart to turn to their own workers. So reports Bloomberg BNA.

Employers will see better results if they empower their employees to be part of the solution, according to consultants. The approach should be more than a "top-down process," otherwise management risks making employees feel like they have no vested interest, says Rebecca Ray, executive vice president at The Conference Board. 

"Engagement is not something done to you; we don’t want folks to say, 'go ahead and engage me if you can,'" Ray said.

Mark Royal, senior principal at Korn Ferry Hay Group, said more companies are embracing a partnership approach with their employees. "Companies are increasingly aware that creating an engaging environment is necessary to attract and retain and secure the talent they need," Royal said.
