Indiana Firm Can’t Dodge Fired Worker’s Religious Discrimination Suit

An Indiana company that admitted it erred in firing an employee is still required to defend itself against a religious discrimination suit. So reports The Indiana Lawyer.

NTN Driveshaft argues its human resources manager fired Jeffrey L. Jackson because the manager believed Jackson ran afoul of its attendance policy after racking up excessive absences. Jackson sued, contending the company failed to accommodate his request for an exemption from a requirement to work overtime on Saturdays. 

Jackson is a Seventh-day Adventist and observes the Sabbath from sundown Friday until sundown Saturday. He was fired after one year on the job.
