One of Life’s Top Stresses: Job Search

Many employers are creating a bad impression with prospective job candidates, including 73% who pan the job search process as a horrible experience. So reports CareerBuilder.

And 25% of employers complain that it takes too long to fill job openings. The CareerBuilder 2017 Candidate Experience study surveyed 4,512 workers age 18 and over and 1,500 hiring decision makers.

“A positive candidate experience is a competitive advantage in a job market where candidates have flexibility in their job selection,” says Rosemary Haefner, chief human resources officer at CareerBuilder. “To remain competitive and create a candidate experience that attracts, secures and retains today’s top talent, you need to determine how your current hiring methods measure up to what candidates are looking for.”

Some complaints from job candidates included 28% who said applications took to long to complete and 29% who expressed frustration about having to upload a resume only to go back and manually fill in the document. Ill-prepared hiring managers, a poorly designed career site and failing to follow-up with candidates on how the hiring process is going were other complaints.
