School HR Officials Quit Over Sex Abuse Scandal

A human resources director and case manager with the Indianapolis Public Schools resigned amid sex abuse allegations that involved a former school counselor. So reports the Indianapolis Star.

The HR director, Lela “Tina” Hester, and case manager, Shalon Dabney, were charged because of how the district handled the allegations. Both cited personal reasons for resigning.

The former school counselor, Shana Taylor, was charged with nine felony counts of child seduction in March. Hester and Dabney were charged with failing to make a report, a misdemeanor.

The Indianapolis Public School Board also voted to fire Deb Leser, Indianapolis Public Schools’ director of student services, and William Jensen, assistant principal of Positive Supports Academy, over how they handled the sexual abuse allegations.
