HR Manager Rates High for Underrated Jobs

The job human resource managers do may not generate much excitement, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth pursuing. So reports CareerCast.

The profession ranked in the Top 20 of the most underrated jobs for its relatively high compensation, low stress and strong employment opportunities. The annual median salary for HR managers is $104,440.

Tom Duffy, HR director for Blue Fountain Media, started out working in finance for a start-up fashion company in New York before agreeing to volunteer to handle that firm’s human resources responsibilities. The economics major is now charged with scoping out the best talent to help Blue Fountain Media grow and remain competitive.

He recommends anyone considering HR as a career to “have no preconceptions” going in. “Don’t assume you know everything about a candidate before talking to them,” Duffy says. “Because you can miss out on the best candidate, all because you didn’t like their resume.”
