HR Director Alleges Mayor Assaulted Her

A human resources director in Alabama has alleged in a claim that the mayor of her city assaulted her in December during a meeting. So reports Gulf Coast News Today.

Pandora Heathcoe, the HR director for the city of Fairhope, filed the claim May 19, a confidential source in the city noted. The incident took place Dec. 29 when Heathcoe met with Mayor Karin Wilson and Jennifer Fidler, the public works director, according to Gulf Coast Media, noting its staffers had viewed the claim.

Wilson wanted to create a part-time role and hire Lynn Mazer, her campaign volunteer, to fill it. When Heathcoe told Wilson that there would need to be a formal job description first, Wilson said she "didn’t care," according to the claim. After Heathcoe then stressed that city rules required the position to be listed as a budgeted line item, Wilson verbally lashed out at her, the claim notes.

"Wilson started screaming 'We don’t have a f------ budget,'" Heathcoe alleged in her claim. "While she did so, she shook me violently leaving me dazed. While shaking me, the Mayor yelled 'How many f------ times do I have to tell you to do something?'"

Heathcoe is seeking $100,000 in damages against the city due to "the mayor’s assault and battery." Wilson did not respond to a request for comment, but put up a post on her Facebook page. "Many people are reaching out for additional information about a claim that was filed on Friday," Wilson wrote on her Facebook page. "I am confident that the facts will demonstrate that no assault occurred. Responses to the claim will be handled internally by legal counsel.”
