HR’s Growing Importance for Canada’s Trucking Industry

Smaller trucking fleets in Canada that are paying greater attention to human resources planning and organizing are finding more success. So reports Truck News.

Of 48 trucking fleets that received recognition from the publication’s 2017 Top Fleet Employers program, 18 were small operators, writes Angela Splinter, head of Trucking HR Canada, a group focused on HR in the trucking and logistics industry. And half of those 18 trucking businesses have a designated HR leader on their staff.

"The HR role has evolved beyond payroll and other administrative tasks and today should be part of your strategic management team, giving a competent manager or executive the insight necessary to link your business goals to recruitment, retention, compensation, and training," Splinter writes.
