Cincinnati Firm's HR Director Sues Over Sexual Harassment

A human resources director for a Cincinnati company filed a sexual harassment suit against the firm’s former president alleging he kissed, “grabbed” her and made crude remarks to her for more than a year. So reports CityBeat.

Diane Sweeney alleges in the suit that former president of Solidifi US, Jeffrey Patterson, “repeatedly” asked her to lunch, but “never wanted to talk about business.” Patterson also consumed alcohol “to excess” during those lunch meetings and, on two occasions, when Sweeney dropped Patterson off at his hotel, he leaned in to kiss her.

Patterson lived and worked in Toronto, but traveled to Cincinnati every week. Solidifi denied Sweeney’s allegations in a legal filing it made last month.

Sweeney wrote to Solidifi CEO Jason Smith in March last year about Patterson, the suit notes. Solidifi then hired a lawyer, who investigated the matter and the company then immediately removed Patterson as Sweeney’s supervisor. But Sweeney alleges that after Patterson was gone, the company retaliated against her. Her new boss ignored her emails and did not give her stock options given to every other director in May and October, according to the suit.
