Terry Welker alleged that the Waukee school district cut his position after he talked with investigators about the actions of the district's chief operating officer Eric Rose. Rose violated district policies repeatedly, mismanaged money and abused his authority, according to an internal district investigation.
"To pursue this further isn't good for our district. It's not good for our students or for our teachers," says Board President Susan Bunz. "While I feel very confident saying we don't agree with many of the accusations, we know that this is the best option under the circumstances."
Welker had given police and internal investigators a 'diary' laying out allegations of misconduct against Rose that date back to Sept. 21, 2015. The investigation showed that Rose falsified employee time cards, used school property for his personal use and tapped district vendors for donations of more than $3,000 for his son's hockey team.
