New Orleans Personnel Director Sued for Sexual Harassment

A federal lawsuit against the personnel director for Jefferson Parish in New Orleans alleges that he made crude sexual advances to a female co-worker and then retaliated against her when she rejected his advances. So reports The New Orleans Advocate.

The personnel director, John Dumas, allegedly asked Zakita Dillon if she was wearing underwear and urged that she spread her legs. "I could just see me putting you on top of this desk," Dumas is alleged to have told Dillon. "I just wanted to take a peep."

Dumas also is alleged to have told Dillon that he would miss her "pretty face" after she got promoted and would be moving to a different office, according to the suit. When Dillon rejected Dumas' advances, he retaliated by not allowing her to work on a special project and then did not give her information she needed to appeal his decision to keep her from working on the project, according to the suit.

Dumas has denied the allegations, The Times-Picayune reports. "I can tell you wholeheartedly that it is not true," Dumas said. He referred all other comments to his attorney.
