IKEA to Slash 7,500 Jobs Globally

Global furniture store giant IKEA Group plans to slash 7,500 jobs worldwide over the next two years. So reports Reuters.

Most of the job cuts will be administrative positions, but the firm forecasts that 11,500 new jobs will be created during the same period thanks to an expansion of store formats and online as it boosts investments in digital. The company has 367 stores globally.

"We need to simplify the way we are organized," said IKEA chief executive Jesper Brodin. "Over the last years...we have invested in resources in many different ways. And, to be honest, now we see that in several parts of our organization we have a bit of duplicate work."
