Further, a survey of more than 1,800 HR professionals, workers and managers by Kronos and Workplace Trends shows more than three-quarters of those asked are more willing to hire back an old employee than they were five years ago. "The No. 1 benefit that boomerangs have is that they’re familiar with the organization’s culture, it’s easier to integrate them back to the culture," says David Almeda, chief people officer at Kronos.
It’s cheaper to rehire and train someone familiar with the company, and they may bring information about competitors with them. While still not entirely commonplace, 15 of employees said they returned to a past employer, with younger employees doing so more frequently than older employees.
