NZ’s Retirement Commissioner Accused of Bullying

New Zealand's retirement commissioner is being investigated for bullying allegations. So reports Radio NZ.

Diane Maxwell was placed on leave last month while the State Services Commission investigated the bullying claims made against her. She has also been accused of mismanagement. Maxwell says the allegations are not true.

"If they [State Services Commission] see a systemic issue, I'm sure they'll advise us of that," says Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Commerce Minister Kris Faafoi said that the investigation "will ensure any current or former staffers can come forward and will allow the Commissioner an appropriate opportunity to respond to the allegations."

Human resources provided Maxwell mixed feedback after hearing from some employees who left the Commission. Maxwell has served as commissioner for five and a half years and is not expected to be reappointed when her term ends in June.
