HR Expects Few Job Cuts Rest of 2016

Companies will be cutting fewer jobs for the reminder of this year, even as confidence in the job market is down from 2015. So reports the Society For Human Resource Management (SHRM).

More than 80% of 502 HR professionals surveyed said their firms were strong financially, according to SHRM’s job outlook survey. Nearly 40% of those surveyed expect their firms to hire more.

“While 58% of respondents had some level of confidence in the U.S. job market, this is down from last year,” Jen Schramm, SHRM’s manager of workforce trends, said. “However, most say that their organizations’ finances are in good shape and few are expecting job cuts in their organizations as we round out 2016.”
