Upgrade the C-Suite with a Chief Startup Officer

Larger, more established competitors often get out done by hungry startups with little resources, but a new C-Suite officer could change that dynamic. So reports the Detroit Free Press.

“If the biggest risk many organizations face is being upended by a rule-breaking start-up, why not fight back with your own creative verve?” business columnist and tech entrepreneur Josh Linkner writes for the Detroit Free Press. “My suggestion: add a new executive to the team…the chief startup officer (CSUO),” Linkner adds.

“Imagine a senior leader whose full-time job is to reimagine the organization.” The idea is to “proactively disrupt the company from within, rather than waiting around for a real-world competitor to deal a fatal blow,” he notes. “Experimentation, challenging conventional wisdom, pushing the boundaries, exploring nontraditional approaches…all part of the new job description.”
