Sherie Peek alleged that her complaints were not properly investigated and that they were eventually covered up by the jail and sheriff’s office administration, according to court documents. Those complaints included emails with sexually suggestive messages and an invitation by two jail nurses to a group sex party.
In addition to the two jail nurses, Peek’s suit names her direct supervisor; a former captain who now heads the Utah Department of Corrections; a former sheriff who is now Moab City police chief; HR officers, several nurses and a union officer. Michelle Schmitt, a spokesperson for Salt Lake County, said the county could not respond to pending litigation.
