Weinstein Exec Who Ran HR to Sue After Firing

The former chief operating officer (COO) of The Weinstein Company, who also supervised human resources, announced he will file an $85 million lawsuit. So reports Deadline.

David Glasser announced last month that board members unfairly scapegoated him in the aftermath of sexual harassment allegations made against founder, Harvey Weinstein. The company's board of directors fired Glasser last month after New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed a civil rights lawsuit against the firm and blamed Glasser for failing to take action against Weinstein, RollingStone reports.

"The COO David Glasser, who supervised the human resources department, did not stop this discrimination, harassment and abuse, even though he was in charge of handling dozens of shocking complaints," Schneiderman said.

The Attorney General's lawsuit alleged that "on more than one occasion, upon forwarding a complaint or information about a complaint to [Glasser], the Human Resources Director was not involved in any investigation or resolution process."

But Glasser maintains he was not aware of any sexual assault, Deadline reports. His attorney, Eve Wagner, laid blame on company chairman, Bob Weinstein, and two board members, Ben Ammar and Lance Maerov.

"My client's sudden termination was nothing more than a desperate attempt to deflect attention away from the very people who were empowered to halt Harvey Weinstein's abusive behavior--Chairman Bob Weinstein and the two other members of the TWC Board of Directors... " Wagner said. "Throughout his tenure at TWC, Mr. Glasser worked tirelessly to protect the employees of the company from Harvey Weinstein's frequent outbursts. Numerous documents and emails clearly show that Mr. Glasser acted appropriately and responsibly whenever allegations of misconduct were brought to his attention."
