HR Manager at Center of Media Firestorm After She Sues Her Young Nephew

A Manhattan woman who sued her nephew for accidentally breaking her wrist with a hug at his birthday party has been roughed up by the media in the past few weeks. However, Jennifer Connell says wasn't really suing the boy, who was 8 years old at the time of the incident, and was really trying to execute a homeowners’ insurance claim. So reports the New York Post.

Connell, who was seeking $127,000 in court, took heat on social media for what many perceived as a mean-spirited attempt at retribution. The jury ruled in favor of the boy. Her lawyers said in a statement that injury claims in Connecticut, where the incident took place, require the injured party to take the responsible party to court and the impetus for the suit was to recover medical costs. The boy and his aunt remained close despite the lawsuit, the two say.
