Woman Sues Con Ed for Promotion Bias

A Con Ed employee, the company's first woman line constructor, is suing her employer for holding her back from promotion. So reports the New York Daily News.

Monica Harwell, 53, has applied for more than 50 promotions since 2000 and despite earning, among others, an Associate's Degree in electrical engineering and a Master's Degree in organizational leadership, she has consistently been denied. She said in 2008, a manager told her "you'll never see" a woman promoted to manager in the electric operations unit and also said men with less experience and education have passed her on the corporate ladder.
