India's Unilever Touts Its Transformative HR Process

Unilever is touting new technology and its data and analytics prowess in helping it boost its human resources process. So reports The Economic Times.

Leena Nair, chief HR officer at Unilever, says the global consumer goods behemoth has made its entire recruitment process digital. This makes it easier for candidates who no longer have to hand over their CV.

"We just pick up the LinkedIn and then there is a three-stage process of gamification, selfie video and interviews," Nair says. "In the first stage they play games on their phones. Then they go through a selfie video answering standard questions. Based on this gamification and selfie video, and using machine learning and algorithm, we analyse the data."

Unilever receives applications from about 1.8 million people globally every year. That is narrowed down to 3,500 and from that number, 800 will be selected, Nair says. "This has saved cost and 100,000 man-hours of interview for us and also time wasted on many things," she adds.
