Aussie Woman Making Gains Among Top Corporate Roles

Men control 93% of chief executive roles in corporate Australia, but there are some signs that the situation is improving for women. That's according to the annual survey of the country's top 200 firms by Chief Executive Women (CEW). So reports ABC News.

There are 14 women chief executives and 24 women chief financial officers in the top 200, a slight improvement from last year, according to CEW. A positive takeaway is that companies with zero women in top executive roles saw a big decrease from 41 last year to 23 this year.

Women now make up 23% of executive leadership teams in the top 200 companies. "We certainly have a long way to go, but the encouraging picture is just how many companies are really committed to improving their gender balance, which is why we are seeing such significant changes in the past year," says CEW president Kathryn Fagg.
