Aussies Wanted to Work in Antarctica

150 intrepid job seekers that are willing to travel 4,500 miles to work in Antarctica are wanted. So reports New Castle Herald.

The Australian Antarctic Division is recruiting to fill positions at four of its research centers. In addition to pay and an extra Antarctic allowance, workers will have their living accommodations, food and cold-weather clothing taken care of.

Summers are busiest, but it gets more challenging to find recruits for the winter months, says Andrew Groom, human resources manager with Australian Antarctic Division. One returnee, Jamie McGaw, who is an information technology officer at one of the research centers, is sold on the job.

"I came down last summer and instantly fell in love with this place," McGaw said. "The environment is remote, dangerous, pristine and spectacular; the team of people I work with are amazingly skilled and diverse; the overall experience pushes you professionally and is enormously satisfying personally."
