Three-quarters of workers in India were vacation-deprived, a big jump up from 60% in 2017. Meanwhile, workers in South Korea (72%), Hong Kong (69%) and Malaysian (67%), were failing to take enough holiday time, according to the Brand Expedia 2018 Vacation Deprivation Study.
Korea actually saw its percentage drop from 81% in 2017, but Hong Kong and Malaysia inched up from two years ago when 64% and 65% of workers, respectively, reported being vacation-deprived. The study surveyed 11,000 full-time working adults in 19 markets who were asked if they were getting sufficient vacation time and if they thought they should get more.
Rounding out the top 10 were France, in fifth place at 64%, and Singapore (63%), Thailand (62%), Italy (61%) and the U.S. (59%). On the flip-side, Australia ranked first with 54% of workers saying they had sufficient vacation last year. Japan (53%) was the third least vacation-deprived nation, while New Zealand (52%) placed fifth.
