Amazon India Partners with NGO to Train Adults with Autism

Amazon India has teamed up with a non-governmental organisation for a pilot to help adults diagnosed as autistic and intellectually disabled to enter the workforce. So reports Live Mint.

Amazon India and Sol’s ARC will start internships throughout the firm’s fulfillment network for those participating in the program. Amazon also hopes the program helps its own employees learn more about autism and intellectual disabilities. “We are excited about our partnership with Sol's ARC as it will help us to enable young adults with autism and intellectual disabilities build a career as well as a financially independent life," says Swati Rustagi, director of human resources, Amazon India Operations.

There are more than 350 Amazon workers who are deaf and who have speech disabilities working at the company’s facilities in India. “We are focused on creating a diverse and inclusive workforce, and this program is a critical step in that direction,” Rustagi says.
