More Than Half of Japanese Firms Embrace Telecommuting

More than 50% of Japanese companies have adopted telecommuting schemes in an effort to make it easier on employees and improve productivity. So reports Nikkei Asian Review. 

The Nikkei Smart Work Management Survey for 2019 noted that 53% of firms allow their workers to telecommute, 8.8 percentage points higher than last year. The survey collected responses from 708 listed and large private companies.

The survey reviewed four areas, including human resources, innovation, market development and management fundamentals to come up with scores. “The average return on equity among the top 50 companies was 10%, 1.5 points more than that among all listed companies,” according to Nikkei Asian Review. Return on equity “measures how effectively management is using a company's assets to create profits.”
