A Lowell, Massachusetts-based company has found success luring talent after implementing an unlimited vacation policy in 2016. So reports WBUR.

Aron Ain, CEO of Kronos, a workforce management and human resources software firm, touts the policy he put in place as the company struggled several years back with filling jobs.

There were "over 300 open positions, and quite frankly we were struggling a little bit filling some of those positions, because the economy's doing well, and knowledge workers are hard to come by, and we try to hire above-average people," Ain says.

The firm started its new policy at the start of 2016, which turned out to be the company's best year in its four-decade-long history, Ain adds. And contrary to concerns about employees abusing the policy, the firm has found quite the opposite.

"...One of the things we heard is that, a problem that might come up is that people actually with unlimited vacation take less time off, because they don't say, 'Oh the end of the year, I have to use it or lose it,'" Ain says. "And so we wanted to make sure that did not happen here."
