Is Age Discrimination a Thing of the Past?

In so many ways, technology companies in Silicon Valley are on the cutting edge of American industry. And yet, while some Silicon Valley firms attempt to address race and gender bias, they make no bones about green-lighting age discrimination. That's according to a recent LinkedIn Pulse article.

The author of the article, who encountered age bias at a software firm, says many in the tech world wink and turn the other cheek regarding ageism, claiming that younger staffers are better able to keep up with changing technology. It’s akin to the notorious “Gentleman’s Agreement” of a century ago where heads of companies made a pact to exclude Jews and other minorities from their ranks. The author later documented his experiences in a book.
