Nestlé to Cut 500 Jobs in Switzerland

Nestlé plans to cut 500 IT jobs in Switzerland over the next 18 months as part of a restructuring of that department. So reports Le News.

As part of the restructuring, the company aims to grow its technology center in Spain. The restructuring will also impact about 1,000 IT contractor and onsite IT vendor workers.

"Nestlé remains fully committed to its home base in Switzerland," says Peter Vogt, group head of human resources and member of the Nestlé executive board. "The relationship between Nestlé and Switzerland is mutually beneficial and the company will continue to invest in the country."

Nestlé's Swiss-based workforce grew from about 6,700 in 2003 to more than 10,100 last year, the firm noted.
