NYC Bans Employers from Asking About Salary History

Employers in New York City will no longer be allowed to ask prospective employees about their salary history thanks to a newly passed bill introduced by New York City Public Advocate Letitia James. So reports New York Magazine.

The bill makes it illegal for both public and private sector employers to inquire about applicants past history. Bans on salary-history inquiries have passed in Philadelphia and Massachusetts and one is being considered in California, as well, according to information in the article.
