Women Leaders Sparse in Healthcare Industry

Top leadership in the U.S. healthcare industry is dominated by men, with women comprising less than one third of C-suite positions. So reports Managed Care.

Women make up about 30% of the C-suite and just 13% of CEOs, a report released this year by consulting firm Oliver Wyman found. While the lack of women leadership is not done intentionally, promotions hinge on trust, and for women “there are fewer opportunities to build them [affinity and connections] because there are fewer people like them [women],” says Terry Stone, health and life sciences managing partner at Oliver Wyman.
