City Brings HR Back After Killing It In 2011

The city council of a Washington State city reversed a 2011 “cost-cutting measure” that eliminated the human resources director position. So reports myedmondnews.com

The Edmond city council voted on July 12 to bring back the position after Mayor Dave Earling urged the council a week earlier to do so. Earling said the HR director position needed to be restored due to a bigger staff, more state and federal regulations and other responsibilities that justified the director-level position to run the department.

In lieu of an HR director, the city had promoted a former HR analyst to the position of HR manager in April 2012. Also, the city increased the pay of its director of parks, recreation and cultural services 5% to handle HR policy issues.
