Bad Traffic Bringing Down Employees: Montreal HR

Sitting in traffic jams to and from work is bad enough, but human resource professionals say congestion is hurting employee morale and driving away good candidates. So reports the Montreal Gazette.

Nearly 90% of HR professionals in Montreal blamed congestion and roadwork for creating a bad vibe in the office, while 78% said the same in the Quebec providence, according to a recent survey. Manon Poirier, director-general of the Order of Human Resources Advisors, says travel is a top five consideration before prospective job seekers accept an offer. And while some businesses have encouraged more carpooling or public transportation and offer more opportunities to work offsite, this is not always enough.

“If this continues, we’ll start to see more often that companies are losing key players or are not able to recruit them because of traffic and where they are located, Poirier says.
