Women CEOs are MIA In Tennessee Health Care Companies

Despite the health care industry having a workforce that is overwhelmingly female, the number of women CEOs in Tennessee health care companies is abysmal. So reports The Tennessean.

An analysis by The Tennessean found that women are at the helm of just five out of 100 health care firms in the state. About 80% of the health care industry’s national workforce, including nurses, health aides and administrators, are women. “Where you see it is in customer service and in the care model level, not at the c-suite, decision-making level--not like you should,” said Rita Johnson-Mills, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Tennessee.
