Female Police at Disadvantage in Ottawa

Women in Ottawa's police force who have children find they are less likely to rise in the ranks and are more likely to encounter sexism. So reports the Ottawa Citizen

Women make up 23% of Ottawa police, or 327 individuals, ranging from constables to a deputy chief. An independent research consultant conducted a survey and found “systemic issues and deficiencies” in the police department’s policies and work culture.

Ottawa’s director general, Debra Frazer, noted that the police force is dedicated to improving and showing that they value female officers.
