HR Becoming Less Human

Human resources will always need real humans, but technology is taking over some traditional responsibilities. So reports CareerBuilder.

More than 70% of employers anticipate roles related to talent acquisition and human capital management will be fully automated in the next decade, a recent CareerBuilder survey finds.

The survey of 1,010 talent acquisition and HR managers from companies across various industries was done from Nov. 16 to Dec. 1. Employers are turning to technology to deal with tasks that are time-consuming and labor-intensive, but large percentages still handle these tasks manually.

More than one-third of employers forgo technology for recruiting, while 44% and 60% have not automated their onboarding and human capital management, respectively. 

“When companies expand and add more and more employees, there’s a certain tipping point where things can no longer be managed efficiently and accurately by hand,” says Rosemary Haefner, chief human resources officer for CareerBuilder. “Automation needs to be incorporated, so the HR team is free to focus on strategies versus tasks, and focus on building relationships with employees and candidates. As certain functions on teams become more automated, we’ll see those workers’ roles evolve and concentrate on the strategic, social and motivational components of HR that technology cannot address.”
