Uncertainty a Big Challenge Confronting HR in '17

This will be a year of uncertainty for many industries and human resources teams, particularly in the area of overseeing employee benefit programs. So reports the Society For Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Two areas that may present HR managers with headaches is legislative or regulatory changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or from states requiring paid leave as well as new laws on pay equity. Employers will have to “think through the potential impact on their programs while still complying with current law,” says Rosemary Hughes, a principal with Stamford, Conn-based EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants.

In most instances, "employees will be concerned, so it may be helpful to let them know the company is keeping an eye on the situation and will keep them posted as to the next steps,” Hughes says.
