One county, Lambton, hosted a training session for its 75 managers about the drug and what its legalization means for workplace safety. Major concerns include workers believing they can legally smoke marijuana on municipal grounds and workers who drive municipal vehicles while under the influence of the drug.
"All municipalities will have to deal with [marijuana] use at work like we deal with alcohol use and tobacco use," said Lambton's chief administrative officer Ron Van Horne. His municipality employs up to 1,300 workers during the summer season.
