Pros Warn Putting Off Dedicated HR Spells Trouble

The temptation for new companies to manage costs by not hiring a dedicated human resources manager is a bad idea. So reports 10 members of the Forbes Human Resources Council.

A dedicated HR manager can ensure that a company is consistent with its policies and lessen the risk of being sued for discriminatory employment practices, says Ochuko Dasimaka, of Career Heights Consulting, Inc.

Other areas where a dedicated HR manager can help is making sure employees are properly classified, making clear what the company’s culture is early on, spotting bad habits, preventing them from happening again and helping position the company for long-term growth.

“Good HR support is able to take a step back from the daily grind and see all the moving people and pieces, where they’re headed and what needs to be built to get over any drops ahead,” says Angela Nguyen of Ad Exchange Group. “Without it, young businesses often get too fixated on just making the numbers and quick fixes to operational hiccups. They may not prioritize investment into the growth of the team members or sustainable operations.”
