The training will include ways to prevent sexual harassment as well as a requirement that the Assembly respond to such complaints at the start of legislative sessions. Both Republicans and Democrats joined to pass the resolution and this bipartisan support will make the training effective, says Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester).
"We worked really well with Minority Leader [Gordon Hintz, D-Oshkosh] and Assembly Democrats to say that every single person who works in government, or any workplace, should feel safe when they walk into their place of employment," Vos says.
Hintz also expressed optimism after speaking with Vos and human resources manager Amanda Jorgensen that they will work "continuously" to improve training.
