Ex-YouTube HR Worker Alleges Discrimination Against Whites/Asians

A former human resources worker for YouTube has sued parent-company, Google, alleging that it halted the hiring of white and Asian men last year in order to improve diversity. So reports USA Today.

Arne Wilberg alleges in his suit that Google fired him after he complained about hiring practices to help minorities at the expense of white and Asian men. Google put quotas in place to boost minority hires, the suit alleges.

Management also deleted emails and other records about diversity mandates, Wilberg alleges. After confronting his managers and HR about the "illegal and discriminatory hiring practices," Wilberg says the company fired him in November.

Google took issue with Wilberg's claims. "We have a clear policy to hire candidates based on their merit, not their identity," Google spokeswoman Gina Scigliano says in a statement. "At the same time, we unapologetically try to find a diverse pool of qualified candidates for open roles, as this helps us hire the best people, improve our culture and build better products."
