Four of the woman filed lawsuits last year and a fifth woman, who worked in the human resources department, filed her suit in 2016. That HR worker alleges the firm's former head of HR, a woman, enabled the harassment she experienced. The sixth former employee recently spoke out about sexual discrimination, HuffPost reports in a different article.
The lawsuits describe a male-dominated company where sex discrimination was systemic and how the women were attacked after bringing their abuse to leadership's attention. They also allege that the men who harassed them were not punished while their own reputations and careers were damaged.
Monster announced last month that it hired a third party to examine its human resources policies and procedures. Rodney Sacks, Monster chairman and CEO, and president Hilton Schlosberg released a statement noting that they are "confident that the recent portrayal of the company in the media is not representative of [our] culture and practices." But they did note that "in the context of the allegations made by the women bringing these lawsuits, we believe it is prudent."
