CEO Barclay Berdan credits the newsletter, Texas Health's Promise Packet, that has been sent to all employees for 15 years. The newsletter is simple with two or three areas of focus that tie to the organization and feature reminders of the company's mission and values.
A big part of the newsletter is the expectation that teams devote 15 to 20 minutes going over its items. Division and team leaders are handed extra literature to help them lead discussions and are held accountable for these talks.
"It's not simply the newsletter itself that drives our strong culture," Berdan says. "We use the Promise Packet as a catalyst for dialogue between employees, and that's what makes all the difference. That ties everything together."
