Iowa Senate Updates Sexual Harassment Policies

The Iowa Senate has strengthen its policies and ethics rules for employees regarding sexual and other kinds of harassment. So reports the Des Moines Register.

The Republican-controlled Senate in April provided more specifics in the employee handbook for those who work in and around the Senate about reporting harassment and how the rules protect employees from retaliation. Democrats had complained that the earlier policies were ambiguous and not sufficient.

The updates follow the hiring of Kate Murphy as human resources director after a sexual harassment scandal last year, as reported.
