Auto Industry HR Head Calls On Her Profession to Step Up for Women

The chief human resources officer for car dealer software company, CDK Global, says it's incumbent for HR professionals to push strongly for greater gender parity in the auto industry. So reports Workforce.

Women comprise an average of 19% of employees at new car dealerships, CDK Global CHRO Amy Byrne writes for Workforce, citing data from the National Automobile Dealers Association. "Many women don't even consider the automotive industry as a career option because auto has long been seen as an all-boys club," she writes.

Some key ways HR heads can help is by backing organizations that advocate and support women in their specific industries, offer more benefits that specifically appeal to women and provide a flexible work environment, Byrne notes.
