Giant Retail Jeweler Gives Women 50% of Board Seats Amid Sex Harassment Fallout

A retail diamond jewelry giant has appointed women as 50% of its board about one year after allegations of sexual harassment against top leadership. So reports Fortune.

Signet Jewelers' former CEO Mark Light, who allegedly promoted women who were receptive to his sexual propositions, quit July last year for what he said were health reasons. Light and other executives were accused of sexual harassment in February that year.

Virginia "Gina" Drosos succeeded Light. The company now touts gender parity for a board that is headed by a woman. "We now have 50% women on our board," Drosos said. "It's incredible how much faster we are able to pass an agenda because everyone isn't talking on top of each other. They're talking about different things, and listening to what each other has to say."
