Facebook’s Zuckerberg’s Security Head Ousted for Alleged Harassment

The personal security head for Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was dismissed after allegations of sexual harassment and racist comments, some of which were directed at Priscilla Chan, Zuckerberg’s wife. These incidents were revealed in May. So reports Business Insider.

Liam Booth’s dismissal came earlier this month, five weeks after Business Insider revealed that he had faced allegations of misconduct by two former employees. Booth had served as security chief for Zuckerberg’s family office.

Ben LaBolt, a representative for Zuckerberg’s family office, noted in an email statement on July 08 that an investigation by Facebook’s human resources department and a separate one by a law firm could not substantiate the allegations. But Booth decided to step down anyway.

“Mr. Booth knows that minimizing distractions is vital to executing the security duties in this role, so he has decided to move on from the family office to pursue other opportunities,” LaBolt noted in the statement. “The family office is grateful for his service and wishes Mr. Booth the best in his future endeavors.”

Among the allegations leveled against Booth was “pervasive discriminatory conduct” and “horrific levels of sexual harassment and battery,” according to the former employees’ lawyers. Staff also were exposed to homophobic and transphobic rants, and Booth is alleged to have made racist comments about Zuckerberg’s wife.

Booth’s two alleged victims are seeking compensation for lost wages and for emotional distress. LaBolt did not comment on the legal case.
