“As the governor has said, a lot of factors contributed to the resignation of Jerry Foxhoven. Of course, Tupac was not one of them,” said Pat Garrett, a spokesman for the governor. “Gov. Reynolds is looking forward to taking DHS in a new direction.”
The governor’s office spoke out after an Associate Press story had reported last month that Foxhoven had sent 4,000+ staffers emails praising and celebrating Shakur days before he quit. Foxhoven, 66, showcased “Tupac Fridays,” listening sessions, and handed out "Thug Life” cookies on his (Foxhoven’s) birthday.
Foxhoven had told news outlets last month that he did not believe his resignation, at the request of the governor, and his adoration of Shakur, were related.
