Conspiracy Theorist Nominated to Oversee Gov’t Workforce

President Donald Trump has nominated a man who promoted a debunked conspiracy theory (about Hillary Clinton being a Satanist) to head up the Office of Personnel Management. So reports Government Executive.

hillary clinton 1724469 1280During the 2016 presidential campaign, John Gibbs tweeted that Hillary Clinton and John Podesta were Satanists and that the latter went to a satanic ritual. Trump formally nominated Gibbs, who had served as an Housing and Urban Development official, to the new role July 20.

Gibbs was paid $131,000 annually in his HUD role despite having zero professional housing policy experience. And it seems that Gibbs lacks substantial experience in human resources management. Gibbs is the fourth person to be nominated to head up OPM under Trump.

Tony Reardon, national president of the National Treasury Employees Union, said his office is committed to working with Gibbs and the OPM “to strengthen the professional, merit-based civil service.”

“It is important that the next director help ensure OPM's standing as an independent central personnel agency,” Reardon said, according to the article. “NTEU is opposed to transferring certain OPM functions to the Executive Office of the President and [General Services Administration] and we will urge the next director to resist any actions that would open the door to partisan manipulation of the federal workforce and weaken the important work of the agency.”
